He was born in Concord on April 16, 1929, the son of Noel W. and Edna (Smith) Ives. He was a graduate of Concord High School class of 1948. He was married to Constance Drewry in 1951 and they both resided in Bow for several years, where he was active in the community.
Wilfred worked first as a general contractor and partner with Vachon & Ives during which time he was the town of Bow’s first building inspector. In 1960 he founded Bow Plumbing & Heating Corporation. He established Bow Realty, which owned and managed apartment buildings in the Concord area. He was also a partner in New Hampshire Bindery and Evans Printing in Concord. In 1976, Wilfred and Connie moved to Loudon when they purchased and developed Cascade Park Campground, which they operated until 1989. Wilfred was a 32nd degree Mason and member of Blazing Star Eureka Lodge #11 F&AM Concord NH, Mount Horeb Comandry #3, Knights Templar, Trinity Royal Arch Chapter 2011, Horace Chase Council #4 Royal and Select Masters, the Scottish Rite, a Life Member of the Bektash Shrine and played in the Bektash Temple Drum & Bugle Corps. , Shriners International. He was also a 60 year member of the White Mountain Lodge #5, Penacook Encampment#3, a life member of the Concord Epsom Elks #1210, and a member of the Bow Men’s Club, the Loudon Historical Society and Long time Committee Member of Troop #75 Boy Scouts of America . Wilfred was named Citizen of the Year in Loudon in 1998.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Elaine Ives and his mother and step father Edna & Raymond Feenstra
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Constance (Drewry) Ives of Loudon, four sons, Robert Ives and his wife Joanne of Bow, Thomas Ives and his wife Suzanne of Bow, Steven Ives and his wife Noreen of Loudon and Daniel Ives and his wife Colleen of Salisbury, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and cousins.
Calling hours will be held from 5PM to 8PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 North Main Street, Concord with a Masonic service at 7PM. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the Bow Mills United Methodist Church, 505 South Street, Bow followed by a time of fellowship and remembrance at the church. Burial will be held at the Evans Cemetery in Bow in the spring.
