CHICHESTER- Joan Marie Burke (Nadeau), 70, of Chichester, N.H., passed away at Concord Hospital on Wednesday May 18, 2016 following a long and courageous battle with cancer while surrounded by her loving family.
Joan was born on November 24, 1945. She was the daughter of Ernest and Marion Nadeau (Carrier). Joan was raised in Hooksett before settling in Chichester, New Hampshire to raise her family.
She graduated from Pembroke Academy and went to work for Mount Saint Mary’s College until becoming a State of New Hampshire employee. Joan went on to have a 40 year long career with the Department of Health and Human Services and then the Department of Corrections. Joan loved the beach, had a passion for golf, tending to her garden, and quilting. Most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren was her greatest joy. Joan was a wonderful mother and grandmother, a hard worker, and the type of person that everyone loved the minute they met her.
Joan was predeceased by her loving husband, W. Michael Burke.
Her family members include her two sons, James Robert Burke and his wife Tamra of Barnstead and Troy Richard Burke of Chichester; her daughter, Stefanie Michael and her husband Ian Berkeley of Chichester; her brothers, Robert Nadeau and his wife Joanne of Middletown, R.I., Richard Nadeau and his wife Jane of Pembroke and Steven Nadeau and his wife Kimberly of Chichester; her grandchildren, Ryan Burke of California, Kyle Burke of Washington D.C., Ryker Burke and Reese Burke of Barnstead, Olivia Berkeley, Isaiah Berkeley and Evan Berkeley of Chichester; her partner James Yankee of Chichester and many nieces, nephews and friends.
