Born on January 2, 1932, in New Brunswick, NJ, Elaine was the daughter of the late John Yager and Rose Riez.
She moved to Concord 60 years ago, where she raised her family as a devoted mother and home-maker. She also worked as a secretary for the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, before retiring more than twenty years ago.
Elaine was an avid reader, crossword puzzler and consumer of news and world events. She enjoyed good conversation, loved animals and placed the needs of her family and friends above all else. She was also a person of action translating what she learned into ideas to help others through acts of charity and kindness.
Members of her family include; her three sons, Doug Finney and his wife Angela, of Concord; Peter Finney and his wife Sonja of Hingham, MA; Matt Finney and his wife Liz, of Concord; ten grandchildren; Kyle, Benjamin, Amanda, Bailey, Margaret, Ryan, Cole, Nathan, Molly and Owen; one great grandchild, Mackenna; several nieces and nephews, and one brother, Frank Yager of Seal Cove, ME. Elaine was predeceased by a brother, John Yager.
Services: Calling hours will be Tuesday, January 28, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, in Concord. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery, in Concord.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA, 130 Washington Street, Penacook, NH 03303, in memory of Mrs. Elaine R. Finney.
