Douglas Giles

Hopkinton-Douglas T. Giles, of Hopkinton, NH passed away Saturday October 15, 2022 at the age of 66. Doug was the son of the late Paul and Priscilla Giles of Concord, NH. He was predeceased by step brothers Ronald Giles and Norman Giles, and nephew, Daniel Giles.

Doug is survived by his wife Margaret Doscher of Hopkinton, NH. step daughters Michelle Doherty, Jackie Dube, Rachel Redman and their husbands. Doug was adored by his seven step grandchildren.

Doug also leaves behind his sister Debbie Lincoln and her husband Earl Lincoln, sister in law Sandra Giles, cousins Judith Signor and Kristie Krebs, Nieces, Donna Ayoub, Wendy Cook, Laurie Belanger and nephews Alan Giles and Thomas Giles and many longtime friends.

Doug was a 30 year veteran of the Concord Fire Department, loved his work and the deep associations he made through the fire service. Doug was a skilled firefighter, knew his craft and was responsible for mentoring many young folks through the beginning of their career.

His other passion was sailing the New England Coast aboard his schooner with family and friends. Doug loved outdoor pursuits and enjoyed kayaking, bicycling, downhill skiing and organic gardening with Marge at their home in Hopkinton. In his youth, Doug played trombone and was a 15-year member of Nevers’ Band. He was a clever carpenter, relished problem solving, and was ingenious with home remodels.

A Celebration of Doug’s Life will be held at a later date.
