Dana was born in Chichester NH and was a lifelong resident. He served in the US Navy for four yrs on the USS Rochester.
Dana was employed as a pressman for many yrs, which included printing and hot foil. Dana was very proud of his workmanship which was displayed in many NH stores. He was a member of the band “The Odds” where he played the clarinet, saxophone and sang with his brother Gary and friends.
He was a member of the Corinthian Lodge #82 in Pittsfield and the local Grange. He was also a member of the American Legion in Epsom. Dana enjoyed gardening, fishing, boating, traveling and spending time with his family at the Crystal Lake cottage. Dana found great joy in making people laugh and teasing his grandchildren. He was known for his special sayings and songs about everyday life.
Dana was the son of the late Dean E. and Mary F. (Kelley) Ordway. He was the husband of Carol G. (McGarry) Ordway for 49 yrs. He is survived by his brother Paul E Ordway of Chichester NH and Gary F Ordway and his wife Judy Ordway of Maine. Survivors include his children and their spouses. Donna and Dana Corney of Bow NH, Dana Ordway Jr. of Epsom NH and Cathy and Travis O’Mara of Litchfield NH. Grandchildren include Rosemary and Joseph Corney. Allison, Margaret and Jonathan Ordway. Patrick, Tyler and Trevor O’Mara. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A calling hour will take place on Monday, July 12, 2010 from 11am-12pm at the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main Street, Concord. A celebration of his life will follow at 12pm. Interment will take place at the NH State Veterans Cemetery at 1pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the CRVNA Hospice House, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301.
