William Wallace Sacher

William W. "Bill" Sacher, age 90, of Columbus, Ohio road his last train, into Heaven, on February 18, 2017. He was born May 28, 1926 in Wheeling, WVA, to the late Louis J. and Alice G. (Fulton) Sacher. Also preceded in death by wife, Margaret "Peg" (Barrett) Sacher; brother Louis J. Sacher of Bowie, Maryland and sister Dorothy A. (Sacher) Ritner of Bridgeport, Ohio. Bill graduated from Wheeling High School in 1944. During his 37 year career, he was a dedicated employee for the Pennsylvania RR, the Penn Central RR and retired as chief clerk from Conrail in 1987. He also held part time jobs at the Ohio State Fair for 46 years, Bob Evans Farms for 26 years and the Fred B. Heiser Company for 10 years. Bill was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose for 70 years and a member of St James the Less Catholic Church for 53 years. Those left to cherish his memory include his children Elizabeth A. Sacher (Mike Kramer), Grace A. Sacher (Paul Hunt) and Louis J. (Dianne) Sacher, grandchildren Louis J. Sacher, Jr. "LJ" (Kate Dobberstein), Breanne (James) Smutniak, and great grandchildren Jessica and William Smutniak. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Virginia Sacher of Annapolis, Maryland, many nieces and nephews and grand dog Jethro Boone Sacher. His extended family includes Deb Ghezzi, Sharon Ghezzi and the Orosco family. Friends may call Tuesday 4:00pm- 7:00pm at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL 6699 N. High St. Worthington, Ohio 43085. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday 10:00am at ST. JAMES the LESS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1652 Oakland Park Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43224. Fr. Scott Kramer Celebrant. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery. The funeral procession will form at the church.
