cancer. He lived graciously and courageously with it until the very end. Bill was born on Tuesday, March 8, 1960 to Marion and Gertraude Cannon in Bethpage, New York. The family remained on Long Island until 1969 when they moved to Grove City, Ohio where he attended Darbydale Elementary, Pleasantview Middle School, and graduated Westland High School in 1978, he continued his education at the Ohio Institute of Technology after the US Navy.
While at Ohio Tech he worked at GO COIN repairing jukeboxes and pinball machines throughout the Columbus metro area. After graduating with a degree technology from Devry in 1980 ; Bill started at Mettler Toledo in Columbus kickstarting a 32 year career. Bill was a sports enthusiast when he purchased his home on the North side of Columbus so he could watch the New York Mets Games on the Cable system there. He was an avid collector of Baseball cards. Favorite team New YORK METS his all time favorite players Cleon Jones and Tom Seaver. Of course he was fan of Ohio State Football.
His specialty was the family heritage he traced back to the Mayflower arrival. Bill has a monumental size family tree. He knows everyone in the family birthdate. His family traveled across the United States for
three months camping. Bill attended the Sawyer family reunions every August he enjoyed listening to the senior members history of the family covered wagons etc. these stories sparked a lifelong interest in genealogy which in adult years had him traveling throughout the country successfully tracing the history of the family while answering questions and introducing long lost relatives to the reunions.
Bill traveled with family members like brother Bob and his dad to Egypt, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, Mexico, Europe, Puerto Rico and more. Bill spent Thanksgiving in New York with his sister Liz and family. Christmas In California with brother Bob and Family. Most of his time was spent with his sister Penny and her family. Bill was predeceased by his parents Bunkey and Traudl, grandparents Clara Mae Sawyer and
Dow Henry Cannon, Erna and Arno Zetzmann, many aunts and uncles, and beloved cousin Richard Cannon. He will join them now in heaven all whom he shined a light on and whom will happily be there to greet him.
Everyone who knew Bill felt his big heart and giving nature and kindness , great laugh, and trivia he knew; mostly he will be greatly missed by his siblings Penny (Bill) Anthony their children Max and Alex; Bob (Darla) Cannon their children Stacy and Kirby; and Liz (Frank) Caldararo and their children Melissa (Erik) Skodt-Nielsen Bill's great niece Kaylee, Michelle (Johnny) Cerrito and their children Bill's great niece Samantha, great nephew Jake and great niece Savanna ;and Frank (Devon) Caldararo and their children Bill's great nieces Bella and Chloe and many cousins, friends, neighbors, and co workers.
Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mount Carmel Hospital for their compassionate care during Bill stay. We would like to thank all our family for support and prayers.
