We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Steven Skoczen on November 28, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 48. Born on July 7, 1975, in Cleveland, Ohio, Steve was a man of quiet strength and kindness.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Leah Skoczen, who was not only his partner in life but also his best friend and soulmate. Their bond was one of deep love and mutual respect, a testament to what true companionship looks like. Together, they navigated life’s challenges and joys, creating a life filled with love and understanding.
He was a devoted stepfather to Sean Srnka and his wife Jessica Moore, and Josie Srnka, whom he loved and cared for with all his heart. Steve's role in their lives was marked by his gentle guidance, unwavering support, and the kind of love that leaves a lasting impression.
The son of Elizabeth and Leonard Skoczen, Steve grew up with his siblings Michael (deceased), Nick, and Melanie. He shared a special bond with his family, being a beloved son and brother. Steve was an uncle to several nephews and a niece.
Steve served in the US Army and spent many years as an arborist and has a great love for the outdoors. The last several years, Steve was a well-loved figure at The Athletic Cos. Gym, known for his passion for physical fitness and his warm, welcoming spirit. Often referred to as a gentle giant, Steve had a soft-spoken yet passionate nature, especially when it came to discussing fitness, better living, and trucks.
Remembered for his quiet humor, generous heart, and the gratitude with which he approached every day, Steve's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the quiet strength of a loving spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 PM on Friday, December 8, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.
