Ronald Ratliff

Ronald F. Ratliff, 82, of New Albany, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. He was at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 30, 1939, in Longacre, West Virginia, to the late Raymond and Gladys Ratliff. Ron was raised in Pike County, Kentucky, and is a graduate of Hellier High School, Class of 1955. He attended Pikeville College for three years before going on to earn his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at the University of Kentucky. He next attended The Ohio State University, where he obtained a master's degree in electrical engineering in 1966. From there, Ron embarked on a long and successful career with companies including Bell Laboratories, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. He retired from Lucent in 2001. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Michele Ratliff, and his brother, Douglas Ratliff. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Christine Ratliff; daughters, Marsha Ratliff and Elizabeth (Liz) Ratliff; grandchildren, Amanda, Brandon, Ryan and Michael Weilbacher; and great-granddaughter, Kenzie Weilbacher. A man of deep faith, Ron was a longtime member of Franklin Church in New Albany. Visitation will be held Sunday, December 12, 2021, from 2-4pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 13, at 11am, also at the funeral home. A private Interment (family only) will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany.
