Dr. Robert Ward Ranck, DDS, age 90, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 2, 2012. He was born September 26, 1921. Preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Emily Byrne Ranck and parents, Anna Elizabeth Rohland and Jesse Paul Ranck of Clintonville. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, 8 months, Sue Anne Shook Ranck and five children: Christine Lois Ranck (Rich), NYC; Stephen Paul Ranck (Jane), Plain City; and grandsons, Paul, Andrew, and Christopher; Dr. Susan Tikson (Scott), DDS, Worthington & granddaughters, Hannah Lynn & Sophia Elizabeth Tikson; Gregory Jenkins Ranck, Seattle, WA and grandsons, Justin and Evan; and Richard Willson Ranck (Rachel) and grandchildren, Emily, Ian, Evelyn “Evie”, Elijah “Eli”, and Eleanor “Ellie”; sisters, Barbara Banning (Tom) of Fort Walton Beach, FL and Dorothy Given of Dublin, OH. A graduate of North High School (1939); Captain WWII (1940-45) 43rd Infantry Div.- 172nd Infantry Regiment; Aide de Camp to General Leo Kreber; recipient of the Bronze Star Medal. Member OSU Symphonic Band; San Francisco Embarkation Army Band; ‘Doc’ Robert Everhart’s 38 piece BIG BAND (51 years) and local hobby bands until 2007. 1950 graduate OSU College of Dentistry; faculty (1950-55); private practice Clintonville and Worthington (1950-1992). Dr. Susan Tikson, DDS joined her proud father’s Worthington practice in 1991. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at Grace Brethren Church of Columbus, at the Polaris Campus, 8225 Worthington-Galena Rd., (Corner of Lazelle) Westerville, Rev. James Custer, officiating. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. There will be food and fellowship following the service to share memories of Dr. Ranck.
