Rita Manley Jordan, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. She was born August 15, 1954, in Ahoskie, N.C., to the late Vaughan Jacob and Emily Corinth (Jones) Mitchell. She was a graduate of Ahoskie High School and of North Carolina A&T State University. Rita earned her Master’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Science from The Ohio State University. She was a Speech-Language Pathologist with Columbus City Schools and, previously, with The Childhood League Center. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Rita’s Christian faith, her family, and her passion for helping others were at the center of her life. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her adoptive parents, William T. and Ruby J. Manley. Rita is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, William G. Jordan; daughters, Shelby C. and Crystal L. Jordan; identical twin sister Anita O. Manley, niece Emily P. Hawkins, sister-in-law Deborah (Larry P.) Smith, and other cherished family and friends. Family will receive friends on Saturday December 15, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER MIDTOWN CHAPEL, 229 E. State St. starting at 9 a.m. The sorority’s Omega Omega tribute will lead into the 10 a.m. service.
