Paul Jay White Sr., age 98, passed away on December 21, 2018. Jay was born October 30, 1920 in Monroe Township to his parents McKinley “Mack” and Edith (Whiteside) White. He served honorably in The United States Army during World War ll, from 1942 until 1945. He married the love of his life Idabelle Mogan on October 22, 1946 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and they enjoyed 60 years of a wonderful marriage together. Jay was a farmer in Pickaway County for many years before becoming the Assistant Postmaster for the Circleville Post Office, followed by Postmaster for the Laurelville Post Office. Jay was a member of the Amvets, and Euchre Club for 53 years.
Jay was preceded in death by his wife Idabelle; son John M. White; granddaughter Audrey (Walisa) Haddox, and son-in-law Kenneth Palmer.
Left to celebrate his life are his children Paul Jay (Melissa Janks) White Jr., Margaret (Ray Spurlock) Palmer, Helen Bower, Donna (Michael) Patrick and Teresa (Arledge) White; brother Clinton (Freda) White; sister Betty (Thomas) Miner; his grandchildren Julia (Paul) Vanderbeough, Jeremy White, Jamie (Dawson) Allen, Jayson (Chastity) Walisa, Olivia and Alex (Kayla Rhodes) Bower, Krystal and Jeff White, Mack and Isabella Patrick; great-grandchildren Devin (Felisha Cox) Haddox, Darrian (Wendell) Crosby, Jordan Young, Ruby and Iris Allen, Oceana and Jagger Walisa, Zane Frahm; great-great grandchildren Liberty, Justice and Honor Crosby.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 27 from 4-8 p.m. at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, located at 151 East Main Street, Circleville. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, located at 134 West Mound Street, Circleville on Friday, December 28 at 11 a.m. with Father Ted Machnik officiating. Burial will follow at Hitler Ludwig Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following services.
