Louise was born in Inola, Oklahoma, to Charlie and Vivian Nelson, January 16, 1934. She was a member of the Inola High School Class of 1952 and attended Oklahoma State University. She married Harvey C. McCoy (LTC, retired and deceased) August 30 1953 in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was a dedicated wife and loving mother to three sons. Mona, as a military spouse, faithfully moved her family 30 times to include overseas tours. Mona and Harvey relocated to Gahanna, OH where Louise founded Mona’s Gems and opened four jewelry stores in Columbus, OH. Louise and Harvey enjoyed a life travelling around the country. Upon final retirement, in July of 2001, Harvey and Louise returned to their Oklahoma roots and settled in Claremore, OK.
Mona is survived by her sons, Curtis L. McCoy (Colonel, Retired) and his wife Eleane of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Terry L. McCoy (Lt. Col., Retired) and his wife Lynn, of Chesapeake, Virginia, and Randy J. McCoy (LTC, Retired) and his wife, Vickie, of New Albany, Ohio; her grandchildren, Sarah McCoy Waterman and her husband Brian of El Paso, TX; CPT Jason McCoy of Fort Irwin, CA, Andrew McCoy of Miami, FL, Samantha McCoy and her husband Sebastian Oder of Furth, Germany, Capt Terry Alan McCoy and his wife Mariko of Emerald Isle, NC; Bradley McCoy of Minneapolis, MN and Brandon McCoy and his wife Angela of New Albany, OH; great grandchildren, Anthony McCoy and Aaron McCoy; sisters: Betty Vann of Houston and Juana Hall of Perry OK; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents and husband.
The family will receive friends from 9am until 10am Wednesday January 28, 2015 at the Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 East Johnstown Road (at Beecher Rd) Gahanna. Where Funeral Service will be held at 10am, with Pastor Eugene Speich, officiating. Private family interment.
