He was a faculty member in the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University. After a long career in teaching, he retired from his position in 2004.
Mike was happiest when he was working on home projects, repairing vehicles, or spending time with his wife of 52 years. One of his proudest projects was refurbishing his 1962 MGA Coupe, the efforts of which turned many heads when he took it for drives. When not engaged in these activities, Mike could be found running, and then walking, the streets of his neighborhood. These daily walks were somewhat of a ritual, and he was a familiar face to those in his community.
Mike will be greatly missed by his wife, Ann (Radomski); son, James Smith; daughter, Julia Smith (Kenny Barker); granddaughter, Natalie Barker; brothers, Jerry and Stephen Smith; and sister, Monica Smith Pincus. In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Franklin Smith.
A private service will be held for the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Ohio Food Collective https://mofc.org. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST.
