Dear Joyce,
I was so saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I have known Mike since the good old days in Grantsburg, growing up in a small town was great and we always have life long memories that we all shared. We loved having Mike join us at our annual" Stusek" golf reunions. Mike was always so gracious and always loving and fun to be around. Always positive!! Great party planner for the class reunions he organized. Mike will be missed. Enjoy the great memories you had together.

Joyce, the six of us had such wonderful times in Montana.  We'd start the mornings with those big pecan rolls, pick up a picnic lunch and head to the Hungry Horse for a day of trout fishing. We'd have Brian "reconnoitering" and Mike riding shotgun with a bag of marshmallows.  We'd laugh until we were sick.  We all know Mike was a bright, successful man, but he was also great fun with a wonderful sense of humor.  We will treasure those days and that friendship.

Mike Smith was a man with integrity and told you like it is and always had his door open to talk who ever came in.  A funny story when I first met Mike a customer just called me up and said a huge pipe fell to the ground and water was all over the place. We were in a middle of an acid cleaning at this customer place. After getting off the phone Mike inquired who called me and I relayed what the customer said and we were in the middle of lunch and I thought he was going to choke on his French fry it wasn't till I told him it wasn't related to what we were doing there he regain his composure. 

May you Rest in Peace Mike you were a great man.

Life, like a mist, appears for just a day, then disappears tomorrow.

Such a warm and loving cousin...I couldn't have been more fortunate than having him close in spirit in the latter parts of our lives.  I wish we had been closer when we were young.  He overcame such adversity in his life, and his inherited spirit for survival and determination, was a wonderful example for those of us who must go on and do our best.  He was loved and we know he loved so deeply.  God Be With You my dear cousin.  You will be so missed in our lives.  Until we meet again..Love Melanie Hjort Perner
