Michael Christopher Apke was born March 17th, 1969 in Mason, Ohio to Judith and William Apke. He graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor's degree in Criminology and entered the United States Army. He was an Army Paratrooper and his service was distinguished by the Expert Infantry Badge, Army Commendation Award and four Army Achievement medals.
While stationed in Hawaii, he officiated multiple military funerals which led to a career in mortuary science. During his life, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club, VFW, American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Bengals and enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia.
Chris was a dedicated father to his two daughters, Michael Fox (Daniel) and Jordan Apke. He is survived by his fiance, Helen L. Anderson, his mother and father, Jim and Judy Stewart, and his siblings, Jeff Apke (Sarah), Greg Apke (Tresa), and Andi Tschinkel (Steve).
Chris, 47, died peacefully at his home on the 13th of May 2016 in Columbus, Ohio. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 17th at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, Ohio from 5 to 7 PM. The family requests that in lieu of flowers any donations be made to a service organization of your choice.
