Mary Ethel Yoder, age 90, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 1, 2015. Mary was born in the Lancaster area, daughter of the late Adolph and Emma Hoelscher. Also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Virgil Yoder, great grandson, Nicholas Taylor, and brothers, Robert, Harry, William, and Richard Hoelscher. Mary was a faithful, devoted and selfless woman who believed in staying home and taking care of her family. Her church, Columbus Community of Christ Church, where she was an active member for the past 78 years, was also an important part of life. While there she taught Sunday school for many years and also led a Skylark girls group. Mary also enjoyed cooking, sewing, knitting, and was a self-taught painter. She will be greatly missed by her loving children, Larry (Betty) Yoder, David (Marcia) Yoder, John (Pam) Yoder, Mary McElroy, and Joseph (Tamara) Yoder; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; sister, Jean Mitchell; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, February 6, 2015 at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., where family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until time of service.
