Marilyn Jo (Kurtz) Rogers, 90, of Columbus, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 6th, 2019. She was born June 8, 1928 in Akron, a daughter of the late Lester and Elsie Kurtz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Rogers, whom she married on March 19, 1949. Marilyn was a graduate of Ellet High School in Akron, working in a variety of jobs in Akron before becoming a Navy wife. The pair lived in Holbrook, Massachusetts (a suburb of Boston), where Bob was stationed for many years, before moving back to Ohio and settling in Columbus in 1966. Marilyn was an Avon Lady and worked at The Jewish Community Center of Greater Columbus for several years. More recently, she loved watching the Columbus Blue Jackets and Ohio State Buckeyes. And she spent the last two decades as an advocate for stray cats and the Forgotten 4-Paws organization, adopting and fostering several cats in her home. She is survived by two sons: James R. and his wife Marjorie Rogers of St. Robert, Missouri, and Jon C. ("Jack") and his wife Vaneta Rogers of Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey A. Rogers. Marilyn is survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild, as well as two sisters, Cheryl Davis and Margaret ("Peggy") Rapach, both of the Cincinnati area. Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4:00PM-7:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 East Livingston Ave, Columbus, 43232 where funeral service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 1:00PM. Ross Adelmann officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens in Canal Winchester. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Marilyn's favorite charity, Forgotten 4-Paws.
