Marie Peer, 79, of Columbus, died Monday, August 11, 2014 at home surrounded by family. She was born June 14, 1935 in Chicago to the late Lloyd and Charlotte (Weber) Dowding. She was a graduate of Chippewa Falls High School in WI and attended Moody Bible Institute. She worked at Scripture Press for 5 years, worked with children's ministries and HiC Bible Clubs in the Chicago area where she and Ben met. She moved to Columbus where she worked for the Columbus Police Department, Columbus Public Schools and Unum Insurance Company. She was a longtime member of Karl Road Baptist Church. In retirement, she served as 'the pastor's wife' at Judson Hills Baptist Camp as well as churches in Reynoldsburg, Zanesville, Troy and Cincinnati. She was an accomplished musician, singing and playing piano from a very young age, serving in churches using these skills along with her accordion and organ talents. She was a very talented seamstress and loved lighthouses and camping. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister Jean Tanis Vega. She is survived by Ben her loving husband of 56 years, daughters Beth Peer, Susan (Jim) Gossett, grandchildren Ben (Ashley), Jessica, Andrea (Shawn) and Jenna, many cousins. nieces and nephews, along with wonderful friends from churches across the state of Ohio. Family will receive friends Thursday, August 14, 2014 from 4-7 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. and from 12-1 PM Friday, August 15, 2014 where a funeral service will be held at 1 PM.
