Loretta L. (née Weethee) Townsley, age 81 of Grove City, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Friday, October 8, 2021. Loretta was born in Point Pleasant, W.V. to the late Howard and Louise Weethee. She moved to Grove City as a youngster and graduated from Grove City High School, Class of 1958. While at Grove City High School, Loretta was on the Homecoming Court and was the 1958 Basketball Queen. Loretta was a Librarian Aide in the South-Western City School District with 30 years of service. Much of her career was spent at Pleasant View Middle School, Finland Elementary, and finally Harrisburg Elementary. Loretta was an avid reader and loved Christmas, Christmas music, and snow! Socializing was very important to Loretta, whether it was with lifelong friends or friends that had been recently made at local Grove City restaurants. She enjoyed watching westerns and religious programs on TV. She had a deep love for The Lord. She was a previous member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lilly Chapel where she was a member of the "Chapel Belles" quartet. Loretta was a current member of First Baptist Church of Grove City where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She loved spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother-in-law Glenn Cutler; and dear pet dog Bandit. Loretta is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, William Ned Townsley; children Cathy (Scott) Leary and David (Tresa) Townsley; grandchildren Amy (Charlie Napier) Crum, Allie (John) Vance, Devin (Victoria Sampson)Townsley, and Derek (CJ Ratliff) Townsley; great-grandchildren Bailey and Logan Crum, Johnny and Lorelai Vance, and Kylah Townsley; sister Patricia Ann Cutler; brothers Den, Jack (Nancy), and Don (Patsi) Weethee. Loretta's family will receive friends 4-7 PM Monday, October 11 at Schoedinger Grove City 3920 Broadway and 12-1 PM Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Grove City 3301 Orders Rd. where Loretta's Funeral Service will follow at 1 PM.
