Lillie L. Turner-Tanyhill departed this life on Sunday, September 1st, 2024 at the age of 89 years old.
She was born to Josephine Gray on July 4th, 1935 in Columbus, Mississippi. For Lillie, her love of God, church, and family was a source of refuge and strength. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Baptist Church where she served as Deaconess and member of Rose of Sharon Eastern Star, Chapter 56. She held the position as a Respiratory Therapist working in Pulmonary Services for over 40 years until she retired from Grant Medical Center.
Lillie was known as “Mama Lillie” by many family members. Also, she was a seamstress. She believed in the Golden Rule and enjoyed cooking, baking, and lending a helping hand.
Lillie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Samuel Tanyhill, brother Joe Marshall Hairston; uncle, John Baker, and cousin Rosie B. Brooks.
Lillie was the sister of Bernice (William) Johnson of Bunker Hill, Indiana, beloved mother of Denise (William) Dilver, Marindann Preston and Rodger A. Turner, devoted grandmother to Larry B. (Keitha) Hawkins Jr., Megan Grant, Keliah (Martrivas) Hutchins, Vontino Young, Roddreka Dixon, Rodger Curry and Ramonte Turner, both of Chandler, Arizona, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation for Lillie will be held Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Trinity Baptist Church, 461 St. Clair Avenue, Columbus, OH 43203, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
