Vern was born August 15, 1934 in Howard Twp. Ohio to the late Delpha and Clay Warner. He graduated from Fredericktown High School where he was a member of the football team and crowned homecoming king! Vern worked many years as a truck driver with Dohrn Transfer. He and Patti enjoyed winters in Pass-A-Grille, Florida and routinely socialized with their "Panera Bunch", both in Florida and in Gahanna. Vern had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He was a man of strong faith and a devoted member at Jersey Baptist Church. His passion for singing led him to become a gospel singer and song leader through his home church and many Christian events.
Vern is survived by his children, Cheri Lynn Warner and Kimberly Ann Warner; his grandsons Patrick Joseph Shivley and Nathan Noble Warner; brother-in-law Benjamin Peer; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Barry Alan Warner; foster parents Jennings and Lucille Streby; 9 siblings and 2 sisters-in-law.
Family will receive friends from 2-5PM Sunday, July 1, 2018 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, where funeral service will be held Monday, July 2, 2018 at 10:30AM; Rev. Brian Bagley, presiding. Interment will follow at Mifflin Township Cemetery, Gahanna. Contributions may be made to the American Heart Assn. in his memory.
