LaVerne J. Mattox

LaVerne Joy Mattox, age 81, of Columbus. Sunrise April 8, 1941- Sunset February 17, 2023. She was born in Canton, Ohio in a large family to Charlie Watkins and Ida Moore Lewis who preceded her in death. She worked with DCSC and Discover Card for many years but her true devotion was to her family. LaVerne is survived by her husband of 57 years, Paul A; children, Paul L., London, OH, Traci L., Columbus, Byron E. (Marieca), Pickerington and Kim Mattox, Columbus; 9 beloved grandchildren, Nadia, Natasha, Dominic, Trinity, Daniel, Zavion, Xavier, Gabrielle and Julius; three great grandchildren, Marcus, Milton and Damian. Also survived by her many siblings and their families, cousins and many friends. LaVerne was a 1958 graduate of Canton McKinley High School. She was also a longtime member of Second Baptist Church, Columbus, OH. Family and friends may call 10:00 am – 12 Noon Thursday, February 23, 2023 at SCHOEDINGER EAST, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232, where funeral service will be held 12 Noon Thursday. Interment to follow Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
