John Strawser, age 86, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2018. He was born on February 7, 1932 to his parents Roy and Viola “Pritchard” Strawser in Circleville, Ohio. John grew up in Pickaway County, and was a graduate of Pickaway High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. John dedicated many years of his life to the Agriculture profession, and even won the Pickaway County Outstanding Young Farmer Award in 1966. John loved tractor pulling and was a member of The Central Ohio Tractor Pullers Association. He loved gardening, loved to dance and Walleye fishing at Lake Erie. John was a member of AMVETS Post 2256 and served as a past trustee for the post, and he was also a member of the Elks.
John is preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Lee; his sisters Evelyn Leist, Mildred Keller, Virginia Karshner, and Maxine Lloyd; as well as his brother Harold A. Strawser and infant brother.
John is survived by his brother Ray (Ann) Strawser; the mother of his four children Ruth Ann Goodchild; his children Gregory (Signe) Strawser, Saundra (Richard) Elsea, John Trent (Susan) Strawser, and Robin Lynn (Bill) Fultz; his grandchildren Rachel (Dave) Huggins, Leslie (Joe) Miller, Nikki (Nate) Jackson, Cassie Strawser, Dr. Lauren (Stephen Hurley) Elsea, Alex (Rachel) Elsea, and Taylor Strawser; his great grandchildren Tristen Miller, Ryan Miller, Paige Huggins, Ava Murphy, Jersey Murphy, Payne Huggins, Juliette Jackson, Roman Jackson, and Jaxon Elsea; as well as his special nephew Gordon (Liz) Lloyd and his caregiver Eric Price.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 14th from 3 to 7pm at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, located at 151 East Main Street Circleville. John’s memorial service will follow at 7pm at the funeral home with Pastor Doyne Wiggins officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John’s honor to AMVETS Post 2256 or Berger Hospice.
