

John R. Schuette, 79, went to be with his Lord on Friday evening May 1, 2015 surrounded by his family. John was a resident of Liberty Township, Powell, Ohio his entire life. He had a fierce pride in his church, All Saints Lutheran Church, Worthington, Ohio and was a Founding Charter member. He served on the Church Council and was actively involved in all aspects of his church family including free snow removal for 25 years.
John was involved in many professional pursuites and enjoyed many civic affiliations. He was the President and CEO of Schuette Construction Company, Inc. which he founded in 1957. John felt a profound duty to be involved in many civic activities which include four terms as a Liberty Township trustee, 12 years on the Delaware County Regional Planning Commission, 4 years on the Delaware County Health Department Advisory Board; served on the Governor's Advisory Board to draft Sediment Control Regulations for the State of Ohio; served on the initial Board for the Central Ohio Drainage Basin; served on the initial committee of the National Drainage Laboratory. He also served on the Sub-Committee of the Interagency Commission on Dam Saftey for the Federal Government; served on the Site Committee for Solid Waste Disposal for Delaware County and the Policy Advisory Committee for the State EPA. He was a member of the Ohio Land Improvement Contractor's Association, the American Association of State Dam Officials and the Enviornmental Conservation Origanization. John was recognized nationally and internationally for his consulting work pertaining to water impoundment structures, land use planning, road construction and storm drainage. John was recoginized in "Who's Who" of American Business Officials and was honored with the "Presidents Award" by the Ohio Newspaper Association for standing firm on the "Sunshine Law." Served on the initial Olentangy Local Schools Development Committee and continued to serve through 2014.
John was an avid fisherman and spent summers on his boat at Lake Erie with his family and friends. He enjoyed gardening, grandchildren, and church activities. He especially enjoyed arguring common sense banters over political rhetoric in any arena and he met his Lord with the same courage of conviction.
John is preceded in death by his parents Walter P. Schuette and Garnet E. (Maddox) Schuette. Sons Kenneth M. Schuette, Russell P. Schuette, step-son Harold H. Hienz. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 42 years, Betty M. (Herrboldt) Schuette, sons Michael W. Schuette (Debbie), Roger L. Schuette (Debbie), John Marvin Schuette (Sandy), daughter-in-law Debbie (Culp) Schuette, beloved daughter, Kathy L. (Schuette) Glassburn, and very special niece, Cheryl L. (Schuette) Andrietti. He is also survived by 3 sisters Virginia (Schuette) Dodd, Christine Schuette (John)Williams, and MariAlice Schuette(Rick) Wells, one brother, W. Alfred (Alvie)(Linda) Schuette,11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. John will be sadly missed by all.
