My deepest heartfelt sympathy to all of Jeanne's family and friends,
I knew Jeanne back when we were teenagers (we had mutual friends) and we started working together at age 14 at the Sohio Car Wash (the only place that would hire us at age 14). We had a blast for 2 years and had a boss that would let us take long lunches every Saturday to go shopping at Eastland. I will now remember those days with such warm smiles. We also loved that we both had birthdays in December. A true beauty inside and out.

I was sitting at the front desk of the Martha Morehouse clinic checking patients in.  I am a survivor/thriver  and volunteer at the James.  Patients were coming in and Jeanne walked in and recognized me before I recognized her.  I looked up and saw her with a beautiful smile and she introduced herself.  We spoke briefly.  Jeanne was so positive and it changed my day.  It made me sad and glad at the same time.  It is a moment that I will never forget.  I cherish having known her and others in her family.,

My wife and I live across the street from Jeanne’s house in Huron.  We were visiting Jeanne a few years ago and she had just received the framed photo of she and her sisters taken in a Columbus Park that they were going to present to their mother for Mother’s Day.  Part of the same framing was a photo of the same sisters lined up the same way in the same park taken about 25-30 years prior. What a great gift.  I asked Jeanne if she and her sisters were close.  Jim, Jeanne said, it’s embarrassing how close our whole family is. 
That closeness never wavered over the last few years after Jeanne took ill.  When Jeanne was in Huron there was a constant steam of Althoff family members arriving by bicycle, on foot, pushing strollers or by car to assist in any way they could.  Jeanne was truly a special neighbor who will be missed.  Our deepest sympathy to the Althoff family and especially Randy, the love of Jeanne’s life.

We were sitting by the pool at NA and Jeanne and Carol had gone to Target for some big name designer sale. Evidently, Target was featuring this famous person's goods and it was fairly reasonable if one could find the correct size/ item. At any rate, Jeanne was telling us that they had gotten up at like 3:30 am and had stood in line for a couple of hours just to hopefully find SOMETHING. The doors opened at 8:00 am and J was describing the complete and utter madness of crazy, neurotic women looking for a deal. She was describing the chaos and disarray of Target after it was all over. I asked J, "Well, how long did the sale last?" And as serious as she could be, she looked at me and said, "Laura, it was over at 8:05." OMG! We howled until we were crying from laughing so hard.
I just read a line in a book written by Jodi Picoult and it says, "So much time is spent with people superficially. You remember all the fun you had but nothing specific." That could have never have been the case with Jeanne. Here's to all the "retail therapy" and "fingering the goods" that heaven will allow.

The waves are rolling here on Lake Erie and they whisper Jeanne's name. I will hear her laughter in the wind and see her smile in the sunpennies on the water. God's most gracious blessings be with you all.

To the Althoff and Posey Families - My sincere condolences at the loss of dear Jeanne.  I will be unable to celebrate her beautiful life with you this weekend.  Know that I am thinking of you all as you remember your kind, sweet sister and cousin.  I have fond memories of her at Hartley and reunions, always so friendly and fun!  

At my store, I remember ordering yellow lampshades for Jeanne because she wanted them to be bright and cheerful. She was very supportive of this small business that Connie Cooney ran for many years, before training and turning it over to me. 

I wish her family and friends comfort at this difficult time.  I know Jeanne will be greatly missed.  May her body and soul enjoy eternal rest with those who have gone before us.

Whenever we had a chance to get together, we often talked about sharing experiences that would then turn into "remember whens".  You will always be part of my "remember whens", Jeanne.  You were always the brightest sunshine in any room.

My wife Carla met Jeanne for the first time at a black tie charity event and made the comment: "Oh my gosh it's Barbie, she's beautiful!" It was true in so many ways, Jeanne was a truly beautiful person in so many ways.
