Janet Ellen Hunter, 71, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2023. A long-time resident of Upper Arlington, Ohio, Jan was born and grew up in South Euclid, Cleveland, the only daughter of Michael and Ella Novak. She received her BA from Kent State University and continued her education at The Ohio State University, where she worked for many years as an accountant before retiring to raise her girls.
She is survived by Jim Hunter, her beloved husband of over 50 years, her daughters Allison (Peter) Hunter Hill and Annie (Clint) Eriksen, and grandson Bruce Eriksen.
Jan loved animals and gardening, and she had an incredible eye for color and interior design. Her home and her family were her pride and joy. She loved riding bikes and walking the beaches of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, and Anna Maria Island, Florida. Jan was an avid birdwatcher who welcomed and fed feathered friends of all kinds in her backyard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Columbus Audubon society in her honor.
