James H. Washburn, age 70, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was born to the late Harold and Ruth (nee Carpenter) Washburn in Columbus, OH. Jim attended Whetstone High School and graduated from Ohio State University. He taught history and OWA during his 30 years with Columbus City Schools. He also worked and volunteered with Ohio History Connection. Jim loved to travel around the United States with his family on summer camping trips. He was a lifelong fan of Ohio State football and a life member of the Alumni Association. He was a member of the Buckeye Triumphs (car club) and loved to go on drives with the club in our TR6. In addition to his wife of nearly 48 years, Margo Washburn, Jim is survived by his children, Patricia Ziegler and Jeffrey Washburn; grandchildren, Joshua and Abigail Ziegler; and siblings, Martha Landes, Carol Thompson, and David Washburn. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Overbrook Presbyterian Church, 4131 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214, where a Memorial Service will be held at 10 am Friday, June 22, 2018. Pastor Bill Gause officiating. Private inurnment to take place at Blendon Central Cemetery in Westerville. Final arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL.
