Jim graduated from Upper Arlington High School, Class of 1951. Following high school, he graduated from The Ohio State University and then received a law degree from Columbia University. Jim returned to Columbus, Ohio where he worked as an Assistant US Attorney for many years and retired from there. He proudly served as a Navy pilot and retired as a Captain from the Navy Reserves.
Jim is survived by Barbara Rattan; his brother, Roger Rattan; 3 children, Jennifer Rattan, Scott (Michelle) Rattan, and Stacey Barlow; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
Jim will be missed for his quick wit, cantankerous charm, and good conversations at his favorite local hangout.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday, July 18, 2022 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221. Private graveside service will be held at Union Cemetery.
