Herschel Norman "Manny" "Poppy" Morrison, 84, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018. He was born August 23, 1933 in Mount Sterling, Ohio to the late Norman and Sarah (Bush) Morrison. He was a graduate of Central H.S. and a proud U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean conflict. Herschel retired from both EBCO Manufacturing and Columbus Heating and Ventilation. He was a lifetime member of Laborers' International Union of North America. He was an avid deer hunter and poker player. He loved the Kentucky Derby and attended for many years. Herschel was a member of American Legion Post 164, V.F.W. Post 8198, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Moose Lodge, and several other organizations. Herschel was a longtime member of Southeast Conservation Club and ran their turkey shoot for many years. He was an OSU Buckeye fan and very proud of their "family brick" at the Horseshoe. Ultimately, family was very important to him and he loved going out to lunch and spending time with them. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; son, Jeff Morrison; and several siblings. Herschel is survived by his children, Michael Morrison, Debbie (Roben) Phillips, Meri Ann DeFide, and Herschel "Tiger" Morrison II; precious grandchildren, Rick (Amy) Hanson II, Michael Hanson, Brandi (Greg) Heimbush, Amanda DeFide and Felicia (Gary) Morrison; great-grandsons, Ricky Hanson III and Zachariah "Rusty" Morrison; brother, Lawrence "Bus" (Marie) Morrison; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Calling hours will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the SCHOEDINGER NORRIS CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, where funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday.
