Heather Phalen, daughter of Ralph and Dorcas Nason died at the age of 87. She had been a resident of historic Lexington, Massachusetts, attending Lexington schools. At age 15 she met Dave Phalen who also attended Lexington schools. After high school, Heather was a student at Simmons College and received her degree in library science.
Dave and Heather were married in 1958. The couple then moved to Salt Lake City while Dave attended the University of Utah. Upon Dave’s completion at Utah, the couple moved to Columbus. They soon moved to Upper Arlington where through youth hockey they made many lifelong friends.
Their sons Stephen and Richard were student in the Upper Arlington Schools. When the boys were in elementary school, Heather became a reference librarian at the Upper Arlington Public Library. She worked in this position for many years, becoming head of the reference department and serving as acting director of the library.
After living in Upper Arlington for 27 years, Heather and Dave succumbed to the charms of German Village. These were very happy years – enjoying and entertaining wonderful friends and the many activities available to German Village residents.
Heather who will be remembered for her intellect and thoughtfulness is survived by sons, Stephen (Lizanne) Phalen, Richard Phalen; and grandchildren, Nicholas, Benjamin, Campbell, and Kaiser; Dave’s brother, Bruce Phalen; as well as dedicated and endearing friends, Greg Gamier and Jeff Lowe.
