Grace was born on August 27, 1932 in Mocksville, North Carolina. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, and spending time playing cards with family and friends. She was always very stylish and took great pride in her appearance. She also loved working puzzles; she would work thousands of them every year, including cryptograms, word searches, and crosswords. After she retired from Lucent Technologies in 2001, she also enjoyed bowling and hanging out at the community senior center, where she played chair volleyball and shuffleboard. Even though she was in her nineties, she was very strong and often surprised people with her strength. She was in two bowling leagues on Tuesdays and Thursdays and looked forward to competing every week; she was very competitive and always did her best to win for her team. She would even talk some smack to the other players, in good fun, of course. At 90 years old, she scored her personal high game of 233, with five strikes in a row! She was also a phenomenal Wii bowler and would wipe the floor with anyone who was brave enough to bowl her. She loved God and was a lifelong member of the Genessee Avenue Church of Christ, where she attended service regularly. She lived with and cared for her dog, Skye, who she loved very much; he was a great source of joy and company to her over the years.
Grace will be deeply missed by her daughter, Toni (John) Marshall, of Westerville, Ohio; her granddaughter, Dominique Marshall, of Chicago, Illinois; her sister, Dorothy Jackson, of Hartford, Connecticut; her sister-in-law, Mary Rhynehardt, of Columbus, Ohio; and many other friends, family, and loved ones.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah and Lovie Rhynehardt; her brothers, Wade, Thomas, Odell, and Killian Rhynehardt; and her sisters, Eloise Holbrook and Nellie Rhynehardt.
Grace loved her family and her friends. Her love, smile, and wit are unforgettable. She will truly be missed.
