Frederick Louis Hairston was born on May 7, 1933, in Charleston West Virginia. He graduated from Garnett High School in Charleston West Virginia and relocated his family to Columbus, Ohio in 1960. He was a retired Brick Mason of 43 years and served in the U.S. Navy honorably. During his time in the Navy, he proudly served in the Korean War.
Fred loved to spend time with family and friends and never met a stranger. He enjoyed listening to live music, cracking jokes, taking car rides, and hanging out with his son at the VFW. He was known for jokingly telling someone that they dropped a One Hundred Dollar bill. He also enjoyed watching game shows and sports.
Fred is preceded in death by his wife, Marian I. Hairston (49 years); son, Frederick L. Hairston Jr.; daughter, Mersulla English; son-in-law, Dave English; his parents, Nellie and Thomas Hairston and his brothers, William, Daniel and Thomas Hairston Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted son and daughter in law, David (Kim) Hairston; grandchildren, DáSean English, Christopher (Christina) English, Marina English, Nichelle Hairston, Dion (Erica) Hairston, David Hairston Jr. and Danielle (Yannick) Tuwamo; 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Having accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior gives the family assurance that they will see him again.
