Eva Mae Hanes-Smith

Eva Mae Hanes-Smith, age 71, passed away Saturday, April 9, 2022. She was born November 4, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio to the late Don and Alberta Hanes. Eva is survived by loving husband of 30 years, Okey W. Smith Jr, sister; Donna McLauglin, brothers; William “Bill” (Debbie) Hanes, and Trent Hanes, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, along with other dear family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, brother, Gary Hanes, and sister, Rita Jones. Eva was a very kind and opinionated woman. She adored spending time with family, friends and all her animals. She had many hobbies that included vacationing to North Carolina; where she loved being on the beach, or South Dakota, long motorcycle rides, and genealogy. She really liked lighthouses and even started collecting memorabilia. She was a bright presence in people’s lives and will be missed deeply. In lieu of flowers, family asks to make donations to Best Friends Animal Charity, in memory of Eva. Family will receive friends Friday April 15th, 2022, from 12-3PM at SCHOEDINGER EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5360 E. Livingston Ave, with a funeral to follow at 3PM. Entombment at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
