Esther Ann Pirrie, 97, passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022. She was born March 16, 1925 to Teresa De Michaels and Giovanni Ravizza who emigrated from Italy via Ellis Island and settled in Union City, New Jersey where she was born and raised.
Esther graduated from Memorial High School, West New York , NJ, and began her career as secretary for a Wall Street law firm. She retired as executive director for Life Extension Institute, a company she help found. A lifelong resident of New Jersey, she and George relocated to Columbus to be near children and grand children 14 years ago and were the faithful cheerleaders for their sports and activities. Esther edified the motto that "Family is Everything" and instilled in us the love and devotion for each other that she demonstrated every day.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Shively. She is survived by her husband, George Pirrie of 73 years, sister Elsie Didovich, 101 years young, daughter Jane Casey (Steve), nieces Lynn Mascioli ( Armand), Kathy Paul (Michael), grandchildren Andrew Shively (Samantha), Elizabeth Galbreath (Jeremy), Caroline Casey and Stephen Casey and great-grandchildren Hampton and Palmer Shively and Wells Galbreath.
Friends may call Thursday, September 22, 6-8pm at Schoedinger Northwest (1740 Zollinger Road). A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Friday, September 23 at 11:30 am at St. Andrew's Church (1899 McCoy Road) with internment to follow at Union Cemetery, Olentangy River Road.
