Elizabeth (Beth) Denise Hobson Kunz of Lewis Center, OH passed away peacefully September 30, 2021 after a long illness. Her husband, Tom, was by her side. Beth was born July 21, 1958 in Petersburg, VA. She was preceded in death by her father, William H. Hobson and her mother, Shirley Deal Crone. Beth is survived by her husband of 32 years, Tom Kunz, their son, Benjamin, her aunt, Mary Quay (Lloyd) of Harrisburg, NC, her sisters, Mary Hobson (Paul Hartloff) of San Diego, CA and Lynn Hobson (Matt Kelly) of Glendale, CA, her niece, Ava Kelly of Glendale CA.
Beth met her husband, Tom, in 1983 while both worked as software engineers at NCR Corporation in Rancho Bernardo, CA. Beth and Tom worked together for NCR in Spain and were married in 1989 shortly after their return to San Diego, CA. Beth enjoyed a successful career working for NCR in San Diego, CA, Madrid, Spain, Dayton, OH, and Cortland, NY, Qualcomm in San Diego, CA, and then Dell Corporation in Austin, TX.
Beth enjoyed traveling, swimming, sailing, hiking, was a proficient skier and loved crafting and card making. Traveling was a passion. During her college years she attended a Semester at Sea and circumnavigated the globe. Work took her and Tom to Spain for the six months prior to their wedding. Beth and Tom traveled extensively throughout Europe both for work and pleasure. She and Tom traveled to the far east and stood on The Great Wall. Beth's jobs always include an international aspect. One summer Beth, Tom and Ben toured the United States in a motor coach, visiting as many states as Ben's summer vacation allowed. During a Christmas vacation Beth, Tom and Ben traveled to the Middle East to visit Beth's college roommate and spent New Year's Eve in London. Beth skied and hiked all over the country and parts of Europe. She always enjoyed the local cuisine, but most of all she loved meeting the people and learning their cultures. She was truly a world traveler.
In 1995 Beth and Tom moved to Columbus, OH for Tom's work. She never went back to corporate work, but took the more important job of taking care of their son, Ben, providing support with his studies and many activities. She loved volunteering at his school for his varsity golf and bowling programs. During this time Beth, Tom and Ben welcomed into their family a beloved pup, Harley. Beth became an avid scrap-booker and card maker. Her friends and family always looked forward to receiving the elaborate custom made cards from Beth.
Tom would like to thank the staff and many friends at The Inn at Bear Trail, the Hospice team, her medical team; Dr. Douglas Scharre, Rebecca Davis and the rest of the staff at the Ohio State University Center for Cognitive and Memory Disorders for their tireless help, advice, and support, and all the friends and family for supporting Beth and him throughout Beth's illness.
