Born in Massillon, Ohio, in 1932 to the late Clara (Youngflesh) Walter and George Walter, she resided on Cherry Road NW throughout her younger years with her parents and siblings, Paul (Hoffman) and Dorothy (Pratt).
She married James L. Ebbert of Massillon in 1955 and then moved with their two children to Licking
County, Ohio, where they settled for a number of years in Granville. In 1975, they relocated to Delaware, Ohio, where Betsy became employed at Ohio Wesleyan University in the Admissions Department and volunteered for the Delaware County Humane Society.
Betsy enjoyed knitting, oil painting, gardening, playing the piano, reading and walking in her spare time, as well as spending time with family and fostering various animals in need of adoption.
In 1991, Betsy married her second husband, Edwin Switzer. They remained married until his passing on December 6, 2015. Together, they enjoyed gardening, bowling, cards, puzzles, and horseshoes.
Betsy is survived by her children: Debbie (Darrell) Connor of Derby, Kansas, and Darrin Ebbert (Scott
Prenger) of Columbus, Ohio; step-children, Sherri (Gary) Zicht of Spring Valley, Ohio, and David (Natalie) Switzer of Delaware, Ohio; and grandchildren, Jason Connor and Tiffany McGill of Kansas. She is also survived by four step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, and two great great-grandchildren.
Betsy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clara Walter; her first husband, James L. Ebbert; second husband, Edwin Switzer; sister, Dorothy Pratt; and brother, Paul Hoffman.
Following Betsy’s wishes, no public services will be observed.
