50 years ago, I was a rookie lawyer trying to establish my own legal office. Dominic provided untold support for me, meeting regularly with me to give advice, provide documents, pleadings, and other information to assist me in both starting my practice and in continuing it into a successful career for 47 years. Other lawyers were able to give me tips but no one spent the time or the effort to assist me like Dominic. By the time that I retired after 47 years, I had built a law firm of seven lawyers and approximately 15 staff people. None of this could have been accomplished without Dominic's commitment and support of my career.  Dominic would not allow me to compensate him in any way for the incredible assistance that he provided. He likely provided the same support to many others. to Steve, Jim and Bridgette....I was shocked when I heard what happened to dad.    I had just talked to him on the phone last week  He would call me often just to check up on me and I will really miss talking to him a lot.   I am so sorry for all of you,   I will miss him so  much.    He was a good man and loved his family.   I watched him and Uncle Nick grow up and we always enjoyed being with them and your grandparents..    Dom was also the altar boy at our wedding.   I wish I could come down and be with you.    I love you all very much.

I was deeply shocked and saddened by  the phone call I received a few days ago. When Nick called I knew in my heart there was not good news. As one of the four boy grandchildren born into the Bowell (Baulo) family we had the love and benefit of the rich Italian heritage our grand parents gave us. From the hill (Brier Hill, Youngstown, Ohio) the first Italian settlement here, our family enjoyed the food, religion, and family values from a great catholic Italian neighborhood.  Although Dom was a bit older than I, he and Nick enjoyed the pleasure of living with my grandmother. I had this pleasure only during the summer when school was out. As time moved on and we each went down our own road, we stayed in touch about family and friends. I spoke to Dom on the phone about every few months. Family always first. Generally the rest covered food, home made wine, sports or travel.  Dom was in a way my counselor, as much as a cugino (cousin), as he helped me with legal and business decisions over the years. When he traveled up to Youngstown he always made time to call and visit.This upcoming year he wanted us to get together in Columbus over the holidays. I will miss him. Rest in peace. Out of the original four there are now two. Nick Chieffo and Andy Bowell Jr., as we lost Anthony Bowell in 2005.  Our family is strong in faith and tradition. We will prevail.  Andrew J Bowell Jr.

I know that Dominic's family and friends don't know me but I have heard so much about you.  7 years ago, I started one of the worst employment experiences of my career...However, I met Dominic.  He became a very dear friend and mentor.  He helped me set up my private law practice and has guided me along the way!  We would talk on the phone for hours--I learned so much about his life (and all of his shenanigans!)  I have a voicemail saved from him asking me to get him out of jail because he was held in contempt on a case we were working on.  (It was a joke--he was just at the bar and missed my 8 calls!)  We always laughed about working for that firm and what a horrible experience it was for both of us but at least we gained our friendship!  I loved all of his stories about challenging judges, driving and showing his cars, his family that he truly enjoyed, growing up in Niles, and all the trouble he liked to get into! He really lived life to the fullest! He will really be missed by all the people whose lives he touched. He certainly made an impact on my life and I will never forget him! If only I could hear him say one more time, "Hang in there, kid!"
