David Fulton Williams passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, in Upper Arlington, Ohio, at age 96. He was born on October 28, 1926, in Columbus, the son of the late Marion Fulton Williams and William Wallace Williams, Jr. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Velma Sater Williams. Survived by son William S. (Celeste) Williams, daughter Patricia W. (Mark) French and daughter Elizabeth (Thomas Ayres) Williams of Superior, Colorado, as well as grandchildren David W. French, Andrea F. (Garrett) Wofford, Elizabeth S. and Drake W. Williams; great-grandchildren Mason S. and Kori K. Wofford; a niece and many nephews; sister-in-law Barbara Williams, brother-in-law Frederic Sater; and by his caregiver and friend Francess Jalloh. Preceded in death by his siblings W. Peter Williams, Susan Williams Wilemon and Stephen J. Williams; and his aunt Elizabeth R. Williams. David graduated from the Upper Arlington High School, class of 1944, and The Ohio State University. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. His entire business career was with The W. W. Williams Company, founded by his grandfather in 1912, a national distributor of industrial equipment and products. During his term at the company, he served in various capacities including that of President, Chairman and Chairman Emeritus. In addition, he was a past president of the Terex (GM) and Detroit Diesel Allison (GM) national distributor organizations and several other industry associations. David served as a director of Riverside Methodist Hospital, State Savings Bank, Bank One of Columbus, Columbus Academy, Columbus Club and was a past president of Scioto Country Club. He also was a member of The Golf Club, Double Eagle Golf Club and Trinity United Methodist Church in Columbus. During his lifetime, he enjoyed playing tennis and golf with his many friends. He especially enjoyed piloting his boat, the ANDREA, in Naples, Florida. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1581 Cambridge Blvd. Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday, January 5, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Scioto Country Club, 2196 Riverside Dr. Arrangements by Schoedinger Northwest.
