Bruce Abbott, age 83, son of the late Guy and Berna (Anderson) Abbott, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014. He was born on February 25, 1931 in St. Helena, CA. Bruce was an employee of Worthington Foods since 1965 and retired after 34 years of service. He was a proud Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. Bruce loved God, loved his family and loved people. He was a longtime member of Worthington Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he ran the basketball community gym for 30 years. He was an avid basketball player and fan. In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Abbott. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Rose Marie; children, Linda Jones, David (Bonnie) Abbott and Michael "Mickey" (Lori) Abbott; grandchildren, Josh (Karly) Abbott, Julie (Jeff) Hume, Jen (Steve) Roush, Nathan (Noelle) Abbott, and Kelsey Abbott; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Dale (Sandy) Abbott, Berna Abbott, Beryl (Estelle) Abbott, Dorothy Walker, and Edward White; sister-in-law, Gloria Abbott; cousins, nieces, and nephews. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N High St., Worthington, OH 43081. Funeral Service will begin at 1 pm on Thursday, October 23, 2014. Pastor Yuliyan Filipov and Pastor Bobby McGee officiating.
