Brenda Diane Wheeler, age 68, passed away at her home in Port St. Lucie, Florida on March 30, 2016, surrounded by her family. Born in Robinson, Illinois on March 5, 1948, to the late Forrest M and Deloris Dennis Wheeler. She was a graduate of Robinson High School class of 1966 and went on to graduate from Indiana University. Her professional career was spent in the mortgage industry, where she was considered an icon. Her compassion made her become a committed volunteer and advocate. She gave freely of herself to organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the Fuller Center for Housing.
Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be deeply missed by her loving family; her husband of 24 years, Jeff Jockisch; son Eric (Alison) Stansifer; daughter Carla (Daniel Brown) Stansifer; grandchildren: Owen Stansifer and Brigitte Brown; sister Darlene “Wendy” (Steve) Jacobs; nephews Jeff (Jennifer) Jacobs and Kevin (Jessi) Jacobs and their families; father and mother-in-law, Ronald and Teena Jockisch; former husband Rickey Stansifer; her close friend and cousin, Wendy Wheeler; her beloved cat, Devin; along with so many special friends. One of Brenda's beautiful gifts was her ability to be great friends with so many people. A list of the people important to her that we would like to mention here would be very long.
Brenda’s family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 PM, Friday, April 15, 2016, Schoedinger Worthington Chapel, 6699 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085. A Funeral Service will be held at 10am, Saturday, April 16, 2016, at All Saints Lutheran Church, (http://saintsonhigh.org/), 6770 N High Street, Worthington, OH 43085. Interment to immediately follow at Union Cemetery.
Brenda requested memorial gifts be made, in lieu of flowers, to the Mary Kay Jockisch Scholarship Fund at Columbus State Community College. Make checks payable to Columbus State Foundation, and mail to The Columbus State Foundation, 550 E Spring St, Columbus, OH 43215. Please note "Mary K Jockisch Scholarship Fund" on the memo section of the check. Online donations may be made at http://www.csccfoundation.org/. Click the "Give Now" button. Under Donation Information, select Designation = Other, and type in "Mary K Jockisch fund." Brenda established the scholarship on behalf of her mother-in-law, Mary Kay Jockisch, who died of leukemia over 20 years ago. Brenda and Jeff, with the help of several other donors, have given out many scholarships over the years.
