Bernadine S. Whittaker passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024. She was born to the late Howard Sneed and Lucille (Lawson) Sneed. She proudly retired from the U.S. Air Force with over 25 years of service. A former Ripley woman, she was among administrative personnel at the National Rifle and Pistol Championships held at Camp Perry, Port Clinton. During the matches, Ms. Whittaker was involved in awards and administrative work. She was an administrative technician with the 2078 USAR School with the Columbus Support Facility. She was a member of the Army Reserves and the Army Reserve Rifle Team that won many matches. Bernadine was an administrator for the ROTC and the 121st Air Force Refueling Wing Rickenbacker Air Force Base. Bernadine was a member of Holy Rosary and St. John Catholic Church as well as Adjutant Capital City Chapter #3 Disabled American Veterans. She also belonged to the Women’s Auxiliary. Bernadine volunteered with Helping Hands opening a food pantry and also collected food, clothes, and toys to help those less fortunate get back on their feet. In addition to her parents, Bernadine was preceded in death by her sisters, Isabelle Brown, Christina Lacy, Twyla Sneed, Julia Pettiford, and V. Sneed. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lucinda Whittaker, nieces, nephews, friends and their families. Visitation will be held 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please remember those less fortunate than us and donate something to someone in need.
