Barbara Ann (Kunz) Distelhorst

Barbara Ann (Kunz) Distelhorst, 73, of Galloway, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born October 2, 1937 in Galloway and was a lifelong resident. Barbara graduated in 1955 from Grove City High School. She married Neil Distelhorst on June 3, 1956 and they had three children. Barbara was a member of Galloway Presbyterian Church and the church financial secretary. She was active in the Franklin County Farm Bureau and a 40 year member of W.D.I. She was a proud breast cancer survivor and active with Bosom Buddies and cancer awareness. She was a Longaberger consultant and a member of the Franklin County Farm Bureau. Barbara loved to attend her children’s and grandchildren’s functions and in younger years was a 4-H and Cub Scout Leader. She and Neil loved to travel the world. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, lying in the sun, playing board games, and getting together with her high school friends. Preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick and Kathryn Kunz. Barbara will be missed by her husband of 55 years, Neil; sons, Dan (Rita) and Kevin (Molly) Distelhorst; daughter, Amy (David) Fleshman; grandchildren, Danielle and Matthew Distelhorst, Clint, Heath, Ross, and Brooke Fleshman, and Leah and Devin Distelhorst; step-granddaughter, Aislinn Sparkman; step-great grandson, Ezra Sparkman; sisters, Patricia Brundige and Kim (Dave) Thomas; brother, Robert (Cookie) Kunz; and many nieces and nephews. Barbara will be remembered for the way she dearly loved her family and had a strong work ethic. Family will receive friends Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 2-6 p.m., and again Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:30 a.m. at SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, OH.
