Madjena Inez Stepper

Madjena Inez “Jean” Stepper, 87, of Columbus passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Silver Oaks Health Campus. Jean was born in Red Boiling Springs, TN January 13, 1935, the daughter of Luther V. and Lera M. Smith Jones. She married Fred C. Stepper June 25, 1954 in Salem, OR; he preceded her in death January 29, 2006. She was a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church. She is survived by sons, Fredrick G. Stepper of North Vernon and Mark R. (Patricia) Stepper of Columbus; grandchildren, Fredrick Stepper, Melissa Lucic, John Stepper, Lindsay Grimes, Sarah Caranahan, Amber Stepper and Marcus Stepper. Sister, Sheila (James) Daugherty of North Vernon; brother, Anthony (Caryl) Jones of North Vernon; 18 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Joni L. Stepper; brother, Sam Jones; sister, Mildred Leathers. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor John Armstrong officiating. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Church. Burial will be in Garland Brook Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
