Joyce A. Hodel, 77 of Briar Ridge Way entered eternal life at 7:46 pm Tuesday, October 09, 2012 at the Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Room.
Mrs. Hodel was born in Lone Pine, CA. on April 09, 1935 the daughter of the late Ray and Edna Ellis Gillaspie.
She married John E. Hodel in Lone Pine, CA. on August 17, 1957 and he preceded her in death on February 07, 2004.
Mrs. Hodel was a registered nurse and retired from Columbus Convalescent Center.
She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Columbus, IN., the Columbus Chapter Order of Eastern Star where she was a Past Matron and the Red Hat Society.
Mrs. Hodel enjoyed playing cards, sewing and playing the piano.
The funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Hodel will be conducted at 10:00 am Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th St. with David R. Burnett officiating.
Calling hours will be from 4:00-7:30 pm Friday and from 9:00 am until the time of the service on Saturday.
An Order of Eastern Star Memorial Service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 pm Friday by members of the Columbus Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
Entombment will be at the Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.

Mrs. Hodel is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Gary) Murphy of Columbus, IN. and Denise Hodel of Georgetown, KY.; a son, Bryan (Linda) Hodel of Lexington, KY.; and five grandchildren, Brandon and Michelle Murphy both of Columbus, IN. and Lauren, Brooke and Tim Hodel all of Lexington, KY.
Along with her parents and husband of 46 years, Mrs. Hodel was also preceded in death by her brother, Jerry Gillaspie.
