Colleen M. North

Colleen Marie North, 67, passed away at her home in Columbus, Indiana, on Friday, May 28, 2021. Colleen was born on August 12, 1953, in Franklin, Indiana, to her parents, Eugene and Patricia Johnson. Colleen married Dana North on February 1, 1986. She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a Bachelor of Social Work degree in 1992. She spent her life taking care of others, and in 2015, she made the leap to start her own business when she co-founded Journey North Care Management, a senior care service, with Jenny Waltz. Colleen loved gardening (she could bring any struggling plant back to life), cooking (trying new recipes and enjoying family traditions), traveling (from San Francisco to Venice, Italy, she and her husband loved to travel especially with her Saint Mary-of-the-Woods travel group), dogs (most recently their beloved Max), and vacationing at the beach (where she enjoyed reading and catching up with everyone). Above all, she loved spending time with her friends and family, and especially her ‘grandbabies’. Colleen is survived by her husband, Dana; her son, Heath (Emily) Oaks; her daughter, Kristin (John) Schroeder; her mother, Patricia Johnson; granddaughters, Lilly and Amelia Oaks; grandson, Levi Schroeder; brother, Matthew (Sherry) Johnson; and nephew, Brandon Johnson. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Johnson; and her brother, Lloyd Johnson. Visitation will be held at Myers-Reed Chapel on Thursday, June 3, 2021, from 4pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 4 at 10am at Saint Bartholomew Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Additional visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday from 9am to 10am at the church.
