Annette Lowell Siler Hungerford

Annette Lowell Siler Hungerford, 87, passed into eternal rest at 12:20 p.m. December 28, 2016, at Four Seasons Retirement Community.
Annette was born in Williamsburg, Kentucky, the daughter of the Honorable Eugene Siler Sr., and Lowell Jones Siler.
Her marriage to Owen D. Hungerford in 1954 lasted for the remainder of her life.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy (Jess) White.
She is survived by a brother, the Honorable Eugene (Christine) Siler Jr., Williamsburg, Kentucky, and a sister, Carolyn Siler, Louisville, Kentucky. Annette and Owen were blessed with two children, Dr. Emily Giesel (John), Carmel, and David Hungerford (Joy), New Holland, Pennsylvania; and seven grandchildren, Henry Giesel, Nancy Giesel, Sarah Giesel, Laura (Colton) Henry, Adam Hungerford, Aaron Hungerford and Rachel Hungerford.
Annette was a lifelong student of music and an accomplished singer and classically trained pianist. She graduated from the University of Kentucky, summa cum laude, and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board. She received a Master's Degree in Education from Indiana University. She taught mathematics in public schools in Kingsport, Tennessee, Wilmington, Ohio; and Columbus, Indiana, as well as IUPUC. She was former chairperson of the Math Department at Columbus North High School.
She played piano in public concerts and loved the music of Chopin, Schumann, Beethoven and Brahms. She also sang soprano in choirs and choruses her entire life.
She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority at UK and Psi Iota Xi in Columbus. Additionally, she was a member of the Women’s Athletic Association.
A memorial service for Annette will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Four Seasons Chapel with Chaplain Phyllis Hawkins officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. In keeping with Annette’s wishes, cremation is planned with private inurnment in the Williamsburg Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kentucky, at a later date.
Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street was entrusted with Annette’s arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be given to the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra Chorus Fund.
