A Memorial service will be held at 1:00PM EST Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Crawford United Methodist Church, 4504 US Highway 80 West Phenix City, AL 36870. The Church doors will open at 12:30PM.
Mr. Salter was born in Columbus, Georgia on August 11, 1960, son of the late Willis C. Salter and Hazel L. Salter. Craig lived most of his life in Columbus, Georgia and in 2013 left the city life to move to a quiet ten-acre homestead in Seale, Alabama.
He was employed at Valley Fir & Redwood for 36 years, as the Manager of the Millwork Shop overseeing the manufacture of specialized wood moulding and trim materials.
Craig was an avid NASCAR and dirt track fan and could often be found in the stands or the pit area cheering on his favorite race car drivers at the East Alabama Motor Speedway races. He enjoyed restoring old cars and trucks, watching college football, especially when Alabama was playing, backyard barbecuing, family events and time spent with his many friends and neighbors.
Craig is preceded in death by his parents Willis C. Salter and Hazel L. Salter.
He is survived by his loving daughter Kriston Salter, bother, Ira Dennis Salter (Trish) of Marietta, Georgia, aunt, Patsy Salter Phillips (Larry) of Sylva, North Carolina, niece, Kimaleigh Salter of Crawford, Alabama, nephew, Ira “Chip” Salter II (Crystal), great-nieces, Elizabeth Salter, Isabella Salter, great-nephews, Ira Jalen Salter (Anna), Christian Bailey Long and one great-great nephew, Ira Nova Salter of Columbus, Georgia.
