1SG (Ret) William H. Horan Jr., age 68, resident of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House. A visitation in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, GA 31907, will be held from 1:00-1:45pm on Thursday, March 17, 2016. The will be a private burial at Parkhill Cemetery.
1SG Horan, son of Norma C. Horan and the late William Harry Horan Sr., was born March 16, 1947 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was a retired veteran of the military, serving our country honorably in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. 1SG Horan spent the majority of his career at Fort Bragg, NC with the 2nd Air Cavalry Division as well as the 82nd Airborne. He was also an avid bass fisherman and loved both drag racing and NASCAR.
He is survived by his mother, Norma C. Horan; five sisters, Kathleen, Susan, Karen, Alison, Marcia; brother, John; son, Christopher Horan; daughter, Mitzi Blanchard; six grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
