Virginia was born to Urel and Clara Mae Cooner in Jasper, Alabama. She was chief editor for Army Instruction Manuals at Fort Belvior and AMC headquarters.
She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, Granny, GG, and friend to all who know her. Her first loves were God and her family. She loved exercising, crossword puzzles, going to lunch with her friends and her church family.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents Urel and Clara Mae Cooner, husbands Reginald Max Gavin and Bob Stewart, her daughter Carol Sue and step daughter Shawn Larson, Brothers Buford, Billy and Neil.
Virginia is survived by Sons Ronald Gavin (Debbie), Keith Gavin (Melissa), Steve Stewart (Laura), and 5 grandchildren Shareen, Danette, Daniel, Maren, Jason and 11 Great Grandchildren Gavin, Maddox, Lucas, Kash, Sierra, Sydney, Scarlett Rose, Sophia, Shalyn, Max and Hannah and another little girl on the way, as well as Sister Levelle Glisson.

A visitation for family and friends for Virginia will be held Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A funeral service will occur Monday, October 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A burial to follow after chapel service will occur Monday, October 7, 2024.
